What does the Quran say about the Cosmos?

Updated: Sep 29, 2022

The Lord of Heavens and the Earth has said several times in the Quran that Cosmos, Stars, and the great Mysteries of the Worlds are exceptional. Likewise, He used metaphors to propose several arguments. In a Quranic mention, the Black Hole or Dead Star has portrayed as the retina of eyesight where the dwelling of Stars falls, and its Event Horizon is described simply as a brazier. In this blog, I shed the spotlight on remarkable verses of the noble Quran in which Allah (SWT) has revealed word-for-word about the nature of the Universe.

1. The Expanding:

Expansion of the Universe

We built the universe with great might, and We are certainly expanding It.

Adh-Dhariyat 51: 47

2. Big Bang:

Big Bang

Do the disbelievers not realize that the heavens and earth were once one mass then We split them apart? And We created from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?

Al-Anbiya 21: 30

3. Big Crunch or Qiyamah:

Big Crunch

On that Day We will roll up the heavens like a scroll of writings. Just as We produced the first creation, So shall We reproduce it. That is a promise binding on Us. We truly uphold Our promises.

Al-Anbiya 21: 104

4. Fabrics of Reality:

The Multiverse

Watch for the Day when the earth will be changed into different earth and the heavens as well, and all will appear before Allah - the One, the Supreme.

Ibrahim 14: 48

5. Doomsday:

Doomsday

They ask you O Prophet regarding the Hour, “When will it be?” Say, “That knowledge is only with my Lord. He alone will reveal it when the time comes. It is too tremendous for the heavens and the earth and will only take you by surprise.” They ask you as if you had full knowledge of it. Say, “That knowledge is only with Allah, but most people do not know.”

Al-A'raf 7: 187

6. The Orbit:

NASA

And He is the One Who created the day and the night, the sun and the moon - each travelling in an orbit.

Al-Anbiya 21: 33

And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk.

Ya-Seen 36: 39

It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night outrun the day. Each is travelling in an orbit of their own.

Ya-Seen 36: 40

7. The Eternity:

Heavens

How can you O pagans then dispute with him regarding what he saw? And he certainly saw that angel descend a second time. at the Lote Tree of the most extreme limit in the seventh heaven. near which is the Garden of Eternal Residence.

An-Najm 12 to 15

The Quran is not a book of Science, but It is the truth.
